Ray Hudson's memories of Unalaska and its people form a beautiful portrait of a time and place. As a former resident of Unalaska, I highly recommend the book. Although the community can no longer be called a village, the Aleut roots described in Hudson's tale are still there. And his deeply evocative descriptions of the land--one of the most remote and beautiful in the world, I'm convinced--are wonderful. The descriptions of everything from fog to wildflowers to stormy nights are moving and accurate. A definite must to anyone traveling to the Aleutian Islands--and a terrific travelogue for the armchair traveler..

It is a simple, easy to read book. The more you read, the more you want to read.

This book provides a unique balance of readability and technical information. I have trouble blindly following a books' "instructions for healing" until I understand the reasoning behind it. Vayda provides a brief, satifying technical explanation of each condition, possible causes, and non-detailed recommendations. For the impatient among us, this book is short and densly packed with information in an interesting and readable form.

Four short stories of Super Natural Romances. First is a lady detective who accidentally invokes a protection spell and brings one of the King's Musketeers through time to help her. Second is a young widow who purchases a "fixer upper" home in Florida. The statue in the garden is more than it seems. Third is a Regency rake who is killed. The lady who inherites must solve the mystery surrounding his death, with the ghost's help. Forth is the curse of werewolves.

Those who know of sports promoter Bob Briner know he was an outspoken advocate of living your faith in the world you live and work in. His books provide insight into how to make that happen. In "The Leadership Lessons of Jesus", and the companion volume "More Leadership Lessons of Jesus", Bob Briner and Ray Pritchard take the reader chronologically through the life of Jesus as described in the Gospel of Mark, pointing out along the way the leadership behaviors of Jesus and how they apply to today's world. The first volume covers Mark chapters 1-6, the second chapters 7-10. The format is one of short scripture introducing a chapter, followed by a 1-2 page commentary. These short readings are great for daily meditations or reading in short pieces. Other books about Jesus' leadership, such as Laurie Beth Jones' "Jesus, CEO" follow a similar format, but the content is different. Jones uses scripture passages to introduce the leadership concept in each chapter, but follows it with insights from her own and many other traditions. Briner and Pritchard stick to explaining the Biblical context of the quote and its applications to business life in today's world. The chronological order also helps see a broader context of the time and place of each encounter, what happened before and after. Anyone seriously interested in Jesus as a model of leadership will find these books valuable, with many fresh and original insights.

Every troop needs Ray's two books in their Troop Library. I had the pleasure of having Ray Harriot visit my BSA summer camp for a week with his troop from Maryland and he had the camp spellbound with his riviting campfire stories.

These books are quite reasonable in price and, while available from the BSA Catalog, unfortunately not all Scout Shops carry the book.

Both of Ray's works are well worth having & they make great gifts for any Scout or Scouter.

In this book Ray Newell starts with a good description of the design period of the Morris Minor. After that he discusses the different production series of the Morris Minor. Also related cars like the Morris Oxford, Morris Six and the Wolseley 6/80 are not forgotten. In the closing chapter he gives a lot of information about buying a Minor. It's a great book with as only disadvantage the fact that most pictures are in black and white.

This multi-author text is a an example of what can be accomplished by diligent editors and a committed publisher. Movement Disorders is intended to be a comprehensive text on this sub-specialty of Neurology and succeeds admirably. All relevant topics are covered well with individual chapters written by real experts. The quality of writing and production is excellent. The Editors, Drs. Watts and Koller, are to be congratulated on a first rate job. Even though I am a Movement Disorder specialist, I find myself resorting to this book when confronted with puzzling cases and when looking for relevant literature. I recommend this book for the bookshelf of every neurologist.

I read this novel about a year ago. Like all of Roy Heath's novels, it is a dark work. The slow deterioration of the protagonist Galton Flood into madness. The clomax when it comes is a surprise, but you realize that you should have seen all the signposts along the way. The author writes with an understanding of the dark places in the human spirit, and with considerable sympathy. This story will stay with you for a long time. It is a masterpiece.
